Tyamolum Camp: 22-24/09/06
The St Johns Wood Venturer Unit had a camp this weekend at Tyamolum Scout Campsite. Seven were in attendance. Everyone had great fun, we invested two new Venturers, Liam and Alex, at our investiture site on the easement, and did a navigation/orienteering course on Saturday (not in chronological order). We also played a game of soccer on the flats. This was, for some, the first camp on which there wasn’t a major hike or other activity in quite a long time. It is unusual for our unit, as we traditionally do not do standing camps, but rather do more strenuous activities with Mark.
On Friday night we arrived at the den and packed, then headed out to the campsite 7, where we set up camp. The next morning we cooked Bacon & Eggs and lit a fire.
We forgot to get ice on the way there (whoops!) so Mark & Liam went out at 8am to get ice for the esky.
We then did our orienteering, and got up a Queensland ridge tent:
After these pictures were taken, we lifted one side and used it as a fly/cooking preparation area.
Packing up.
Sorry if the quality of the images are horrible, I took them on a little minicam. The gallery with all the images is available here.
