On the weekend of the 9-11 March, 28 families from St Johns Wood enjoyed a weekend of fun and games. The
theme for the weekend was “100 years of Scouting†as the world of scouts celebrates the event this year.
Some Activities for the weekend included:
Abseiling
– was very popular and great fun! Someone told me they had been down 13
times!
Billy Carts
- Building and having a go on the billy carts was a huge hit – I’m surprised
they are not worn out! A big thankyou to Ken Ansell ASMNU, for planning, designing
and organizing materials needed to make this a big success. We will be well and truly
ready for the Billy Cart Derby mid year.
St Johns Wood Games
– I’m not sure who was more competitive the kids or their
parents! A fun afternoon was had by everyone and we didn’t loose anyone on the
compass trail, however I think some cheating went on during the straw tower building!
Family Dinner
– a big thankyou to Bronwen Davie who catered for the dinner and
Russell Davie who stood and cooked over 80 steaks & sausages– a big effort to have
it all ready for us to sit and eat. Thank you also to those parents who stepped in to
help prepare the vegetables.
Campfire
- Congratulations to Yanni Dubler, after a lot of time and hard work on
achieving his Scout Medallion. Yanni was presented his medallion during the
campfire by Bronwen Davie. BRAVO!
Damper Twists
– the chefs were busy making damper on Sunday morning and made the best damper twists I have
ever tasted!
As with any camp a lot of planning goes on “behind the scenesâ€. A very big thankyou must go to a very dedicated
Group Leader, Bronwen Davie who not only ran the weekend but planned along with help from Felicia Wenham and
Jenny Brake and catered for the camp while also catering for a training course running at the park at the same time to
raise funds for the group! THANK YOU !
Jenny Brake, ASMNU
