SJW Venturers in the Brisbane ANZAC day march

ANZAC day celebrates all those Australians and New Zealanders who fought or are fighting in wars all around the globe. Today St. John’s Wood Scout Group participated in not one but two services, the first being the local Ashgrove march and service at 8am, and the second taking place in Brisbane city, involving current and former members of the Australian Defence Forces, various youth organisations and - us. From 10am thousands of people marched past crowds in the centre of the city and the event was televised on ABC television.

The venturers just came back from a great four-day camp in which we invested a new unit member and played an entire day of laser skirmish. Below are some pictures from the camp:
















Dear Parents
On Wednesday 25 April, St Johns Wood Scout Group will again be marching in the Ashgrove Anzac Day March.
Please gather at 8am in full uniform at the corner of Betheden Terrace (just past St Finbarr’s Church) and Waterworks Road. The Parade will end in Stewart Place where a short service is held. Usually commences at 8.20 and should be finished by 9am.
For Joey Scouts, participation in the Parade earns the badge ‘ Our Service, Our Heritage†and for other youth Sections it is a part of it.
