Anaconda, on Wardell Street at Everton Park is having a special evening just for scouting people,

On Wednesday, December 6 between 6pm and 9pm

There will be talks and demonstrations of equipment, competitions with prizes,
Special prices will be available on the night.

Anaconda has a very extensive range of outdoor equipment for camping, hiking, climbing and water activities plus a large selection of camping accessories and gadgets.

Just a quick note to tell you that a petition has been set up by Canadian Rovers asking for Google to commemorate Baden Powell’s birthday by changing their logo on the 22nd of February each year. The petition currently has over 44,000 signatures from Scouts all around the world, so it’s pretty obvious that we want it done.

Here’s something useful for any Australian who wants to bring about change. The website is called GetUp.org.au. Go there and sign up for GetUp alerts which tell you about upcoming protest marches. It is one of the best tools for getting large groups of people together to do marches, with over 100,000 people registered. How is this related to scouting? Well, the scouting movement is dedicated to helping the environment. GetUp’s organised marches (including the recent ones in Brisbane & Sydney) often protest our complacency in fighting climate change.

On Friday due to a number of venturers missing we did some abseil & prussock practise in the Venturer den, some indoor soccer and kingball. Here are some pictures from the night:

The scouts had a pretty good night, although I didn’t check on exactly what they did.
