As part of the squire training, the Rovers ran Joey’s for the evening. The main theme for the evening was compasses and maps. Some of the highlights of the evening included the compass point game, (including a Joey pile on on Owen), a map reading activity, and the Joey’s learning about a GPS. After a fantastically exhausting, yet rewarding visit to Joeys last Thursday night the Rover Crew has decided that it will change its meeting nights from Thursday to the all new, improved time of 7:30pm on Wednesday nights.

To assist with the all important recuting of new members, the crew ran a movie (and card night) night in the den. With 3 members and a lot of visitors the crew enjoyed a numebr of movies provided from Emile’s collection, starting off with the Borne Identity. A good night that hopefully will lead to some new members.

Tonight we spent some time continuing with the cleaning of the den. With the Crew in recess for so long, the amount of garage sale items multiplied significantly. By the end of the evening we had the den clean enough to make it look habitable for the movie night on Saturday.

Two members (and our RA) of the St John’s Wood Rover Crew recently attended the Banana Bash 2008, a get-together of many of Brisbane’s Rover Crews to pit their bash cars against each other in a number of races and challenges. At the moment our vehicle is not in a sufficient state to be raced, however we have recieved offers for bash-worthy vehicles.
We witnessed a crash of epic proportions, when Sunnybank’s vehicle (the red one shown below after the accident) fishtailed and slammed into a tree stump. Their rear (tubeless) wheel was pushed out of its rim, and they had to do a quick pit stop to get back to the finish line. For full gallery of images, visit the Banana Bash ‘08 Album.
